Welcome Parents
For more than 20 years, I have helped families of children with disabilities fight for the services, rights, and futures their children deserve. I know the world of special education, dispute resolution, and school districts, and I know how to navigate it.
But families of children with disabilities face legal challenges that go beyond the IEP. Whether you need an attorney to fight your school district, an independent voice for your child’s best interests, or a mediator to help you and your spouse reach an agreement that truly accounts for your child’s needs, I bring the same depth of knowledge and commitment to every matter.
How I Can Help
Practice Areas
I tailor services to your unique path.
I have replaced the traditional, rigid legal model with an efficient, transparent, and predictable approach tailored to the unique needs of families of children with disabilities.
Enjoy ease.
I run a virtual, paperless office that provides secure digital document sharing and online meetings, providing you with flexible, accessible support without the need to travel. PPTs, mediations, hearings, and most other meetings are held via video conference, which also makes it a little easier to find a time that works around your family’s schedule.
Your choices.
Whether you need someone to fight for the special education supports and services your child is entitled to, a court-appointed voice for your child’s best interests, or a guide through a difficult family transition, I bring the same depth of knowledge and commitment to every matter, no matter which role you need me to play.
Message me.
I use a Parent Portal which provides a secure, easy-to-search messaging platform for communications. Every parent stays in the loop with full visibility of updates and messages. A flat monthly fee covers most communication through the portal, so you are not billed message by message just to stay connected.
Voices from the labyrinth
What people say.
“When we learned that even though we opposed our school district’s placement recommendation for our child they could move him without our consent, we were terrified. Within the hour we called special education attorney, Dana Jonson. She clearly explained the whole process that we were facing, along with every possible outcome. The night we hired Law Offices of Dana Jonson, LLC to help us was the first night I slept in months. Every email we received from the district, they proactively reached out to explain what was happening and what implications it would have. Today our child is in the placement that was in his best interest and he is thriving. It is not lost on us that we would not be here without having hired them.”

“Dana changed the big picture for us. We went from worrying about incremental wins at PPT’s to mapping out successful years for our son. She has helped us navigate in-school services, skipping a grade, private evaluations, and even an out of district placement. When we look back at our son’s formative years, it won’t be a teacher or therapist that we remember for making him a successful adult, it will be Dana Jonson for making it all possible.”

“When our son received multiple diagnoses which ultimately led to an IEP in first grade we had no idea what to expect in the coming years. In seventh grade, we had to seek legal advice and ultimately representation. And, we reached out to Dana. She immediately provided us with the information needed to diffuse a difficult situation and has been with our family ever since. Dana works with you and your child as a partner. We didn’t know what to expect as our son’s needs evolved, and we could never have navigated the complexity of the situation on our own. We were able to ultimately reach a solution which we never would have managed without the expert advice, care, and support of Dana.”
